Job Summary

The Residential College Spanish Program https://lsa.umich.edu/rc/ is seeking to hire a lecturer I to teach one section in Spanish for the Fall 2025 semester.

The Spanish program at the Residential College (RC) seeks applicants for a Lecturer I position for Fall Term 2025. Responsibilities include leading one discussion section in Intensive I Spanish, RCLANG 194). The Intensive Spanish course is team-taught and covers in one term what a standard first-year college course covers in two. It provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Spanish morphology and syntax, functional vocabulary, and practice in speaking and writing. The instructor leads the discussion portion of the class for interactive practice of the material presented in the lecture and focuses on the development of their oral, listening and writing skills.

Responsibilities*

Instructor works in a team under the coordinator's supervision, and attendance to program meetings is expected. Two office hours per week per class and participation in co-curricular activities are required. Instructor provides written assessment of individual students at midterm and the end of the semester. Training and participation in proficiency examinations at the end of August and end of the term in December is also expected.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and prior familiarity or teaching experience in intensive language programs is desirable. Minimum requirement: Bachelors degree, preferred Masters or PhD.
