Job Summary

The research assistant will support various research projects including preparing materials, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and reporting results under the direction of a lead faculty member. This is a full-time, temporary position. Temporary employment is limited to 12 months of duration. Work expectation is 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities*

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Accurately collect and record data from experiments, using appropriate instruments and methods. Analyze data using statistical or other techniques as needed. 
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and organized records of experiments, including procedures, results, and observations.
  • Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for experiments, ensuring accurate measurements and proper handling.
  • Instrument Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as spectrometers, microscopes and freezing apparatus. 
  • Literature Review: Conduct literature searches to identify relevant information and research findings. 
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare reports, presentations, or other documents summarizing research findings. 
  • Safety and Maintenance: Adhere to strict safety protocols in the laboratory and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Support: Assist with other laboratory tasks, such as inventory management, ordering supplies, and preparing materials for experiments. 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field is required.
  • Experience with basic laboratory techniques and equipment is highly valued.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills are necessary.

Modes of Work
