Job Summary
The School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) Detroit Sustainability Clinic is looking for an experienced Communications Specialist to join our team. We are a dynamic and creative team that values and prioritizes collaboration and communication. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can help us develop and write compelling content for all audiences and important partners. You will identify best in class branding and storytelling for the Clinic and its partners. Print and digital deliverables include branded promotional materials and merchandise, emails, press releases, newsletters, website, social media, alumni magazine, and other collateral material.
You will report to Tony Reames, the Director of the SEAS Detroit Sustainability Clinic, and collaborate with the larger SEAS Communications and Marketing team.

What You'll Do
- Develop and write content for the website that incorporates Search Engine Optimization strategies and marketing analytics. Post and update content using our content management system.
- Develop, write, and edit marketing recruitment messages, taglines, promotions, and donor/alumni messages.
- Create announcements, talking points, emails, speeches, and letters for the Director.
- Develop and implement communications for small and large projects with high visibility based on organizational and user needs.
- Develop content and story ideas, with a willingness to think outside the box.
- Communicate plans for upcoming stories and request any needed materials; coordinate with other communications and marketing staff.
- Develop social media posts/digital content and other communications responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Professional experience in communications, journalism, or marketing.
- Strong proficiency in copy editing with a keen eye for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy.
- Ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Manage numerous projects simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment that values idea-sharing, while also demonstrating strong self-direction and the ability to work independently when needed.
- Experience with web content management systems (e.g., Drupal) and different social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, YouTube).
- Experience working with an email marketing platform and knowledge of industry trends for use of social media and other project management tools.

Office Spaces will include: 480, 1420 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI and 440 Church Street Ann Arbor, MI.
