Job Summary
The Department of External Relations at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a talented and creative individual to help develop content for the UM-Dearborn Admissions Blog and various marketing materials. This role is ideal for someone eager to craft compelling content that promotes the university and offers insight into the Dearborn Wolverine student experience.
This position will provide an opportunity to gain experience in copywriting, narrative writing, content strategy, marketing, and offer the opportunity to have your written work published on the UM-Dearborn Admission Blog. This person will work directly with the department's Marketing Writer & Content Strategist. They will also work with the External Relations Department, which oversees marketing strategy and outreach for current and prospective students.
Responsibilities*
- Assist with ongoing writing and video projects
- Develop and write content for emails, admissions blog, and other marketing materials
- Collaborate with other members of the marketing team to brainstorm and execute innovative content strategies that are compelling to target audiences
- Stay ahead of the latest trends in higher education marketing to ensure content is relevant and effective
- Reach out to faculty and students for quotes, volunteer opportunities, interviews, and content questions
Required Qualifications*
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; elevated storytelling ability
- Creative thinker
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to work well independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
