Job Summary

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking students for Club Sports Event Supervisor positions. Event supervisors provide on site supervision and support for home games and other special events (on or near campus), such as orientation tabling and hockey ticket sales. Event supervisors also serve as a first responder in the case of an emergency. No prior experience is required, as all the necessary training and certifications will be provided (Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED). Shifts will take place on evenings and weekends during the fall and winter semesters.

Responsibilities*

  • Open & close facilities for on campus events
  • Set up and break down for on campus and off campus events
  • Supervise club competitions or practices
  • Enforce rules and policies with participants and spectators
  • Providing assistance to spectators
  • Complete shift reports, injury reports and other documentation as necessary
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Perform clerical duties and other assigned tasks

Required Qualifications*

  • Current UM-Flint Student
  • Available to work in the evenings and on weekends
  • Reliable transportation to off campus events 
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully complete provided First Aid, CPR & AED certification course

Desired Qualifications*

  • Desire to enter a medical field, event management, or other related field upon degree completion
  • Work study award for the upcoming academic semester 

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
