Job Summary
The Carty lab seeks to hire an experienced, organized, enthusiastic and collaborative scientist as full-time Research Laboratory Specialist Senior (with underfill to Intermediate or Associate depending on experience/qualifications) to join this highly collaborative research team. The research goal of our lab is to identify and study novel molecular mechanisms that regulate T cell fate decisions with the ultimate goal of improving T cell-based immunotherapies. We use multiple modalities to investigate these questions including murine models, human T cells, flow cytometry, molecular biology, biochemistry, imaging and bioinformatic analyses.
The position is in the interdisciplinary and translational environment in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and the Rogel Cancer Center in the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Highly-motivated candidates who can work both independently and collaboratively with expertise in mouse models, immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry applied to basic/translational immunobiology research will be most competitive for this position. The candidate will be expected to perform an independent project (commensurate with abilities) under PI guidance, provide experimental assistance to other lab members, as well as have responsibility for oversight of day-to-day lab operations including murine colony management, ordering and maintaining a safe lab environment. Responsibilities may also include training and supervising research technicians, undergraduate and other trainees on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities*
- Design and perform experiments, including isolation and culture of murine or human T cells, multi-color flow cytometry analysis and sorting, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, Western blots, tissue culture and cellular immunology experiments.
- Collect, process and analyze research data, reporting to the Principal Investigator. Maintains an accurate and up to date electronic notebook with experimental details. Adheres to high standards of research rigor and reproducibility
- Responsible for general laboratory organization, compliance with regulatory requirements, maintenance, record-keeping and ordering supplies for laboratory.
- Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the mouse colony under the direction of the PI
- Train and functionally supervise junior members of the lab under direction of PI
Required Qualifications*
- Research Specialist Senior: PhD or Master's Degree is required. 5-6 years of experience in a related field.
- Research Specialist Intermediate: Bachelor's Degree is required. 4-5 years of experience in a related field.
- Research Specialist Associate: Bachelor's Degree is required. 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
Research Specialist Senior/Intermediate/Associate:
Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and murine models required

Background Screening
