Job Summary
The Student will assist with the day-to-day management and administration of the Institute of Data Engineering, Analytics, and Science (IDEAS). This role involves supporting administrative tasks, and maintaining as well as updating the institute's website. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, a willingness to learn, and a foundation in data analytics or related technical fields.
Responsibilities*
- Assist with institute management and general administrative operations, including meeting scheduling, documentation, record-
keeping, and communications. - Collaborate with project leads and research staff to facilitate project progress and resolve technical issues.
- Update, maintain, and troubleshoot the institute website, ensuring content accuracy and optimal functionality.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of institute reports, presentations, and outreach materials.
- Participate in team meetings, contribute to the planning and organization of institute events, seminars, or workshops.
- Liaise with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders as needed to accomplish project and institute objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the institute.
Required Qualifications*
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Science,
or a related field. - Demonstrated interest in data analytics, data engineering, or related disciplines.
- Basic experience with website maintenance or content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, or similar).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with standard office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience with data analysis tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
- Familiarity with website development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Prior experience providing technical support or working on research projects.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).
- Familiarity with academic or research environments.
- Interest in contributing to outreach, marketing, or event coordination activities.
Modes of Work
Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
