Job Summary

Applications are being considered for a full-time, research scientist track position in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics, University of Michigan School of Medicine. The successful candidate will have a strong research background and hold a doctoral degree in molecular and cellular biology or a related field. A particular focus of this search is on candidates who are interested in airway epithelial biology and human rhinovirus as it relates to type 2 inflammatory disease. The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics foster active engagement and collaboration.  Specifically, the focus will be on mechanistic experiments focused on understanding drivers of chronic rhinosinusitis and asthma. 

The faculty position is within the vibrant and highly interactive research environment of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics and resides within the very strong and collegial research community of the University of Michigan.  Candidates being considered for this position will be expected to work within a team-based research program and to support the training and education of multiple learners working in the laboratory environment, including graduate students, post-docs and residents.

Required Qualifications*

The successful candidate will hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree in biological sciences, cancer biology, or a related field and will have research interests relevant to cell and molecular biology aligned with the Head and Neck Oncology Program.  Experience with mouse modeling and/or bioinformatics is desired. Excellent candidates with other research focus relevant for head and neck cancer will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
