The Biomedical Research Core Facilities is looking for a skilled Histotechnologist to join us in the Advanced Genomics Core. The incumbent will assist in developing, deploying, and executing protocols that improve spatial and single cell operations in the Advanced Genomics Core.

Responsibilities*
Prepare samples for spatial transcriptomics experiments on animal and human tissue from client-provided samples. Perform project specific techniques using instruments of advanced technologies including 10x Genomics Visium and Xenium platforms, expanding to additional related platforms in the future. Responsibilities include embedding, sectioning, staining and imaging frozen or fixed tissue, primarily with H&E and DAPI. Tasks may include but are not limited to inventory management, quality assessment, and efficiency enhancement.
Perform wet-bench techniques including recovery cryopreserved cells, cell viability assessment, cell/nuclei counting, assay processing, or others, while assuring that samples meet core quality requirements for further sample processing.
With direction from the Single Cell and Spatial Project manager communicate with clients regarding sample quality, performance, and assay parameters. Document client requests electronically in LIMS and/or MiCores. Communicate with other core facilities relevant to the analysis of spatial and single-cell specimens.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelors degree in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or related biomedical field, or significant paid experience (8-10 years) in a Histotechnologist position with advanced knowledge in molecular biology skills, experience performing immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, cryo-sectioning, paraffin sectioning, Experience with various cell & tissue fixation methods. Demonstrated experience in using and maintaining advanced automated laboratory equipment. A successful candidate must have considerable hands-on experience in tissue and cell handling. Proficiency and comfort with computer-based operations including standard office software (MS Word, MS Excel). Must be meticulous at the lab bench and with record keeping in a LIMS or the MiCores system. The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a diverse environment while under pressure to produce results in a timely manner is required. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience with in-situ hybridization.

This position is located at the North Campus Research Complex.
