Job Summary
The Allada Laboratory (alladalab.org) at the Michigan Neuroscience Institute (MNI), University of Michigan, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate the molecular and circuit bases of sleep homeostasis and its links to neurodegeneration. The position leverages a broad range of approaches - including molecular genetics, RNA sequencing, FACS, biochemistry, confocal imaging, and behavioral analyses - along with integrative -omics workflows. Applicants must be able to apply these methods accurately and independently, interact effectively with computational biologists, and clearly communicate findings through presentations and publications. Mission Statement
Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.
Who We Are
The Allada Lab investigates fundamental mechanisms of sleep and circadian rhythms and how their disruption contributes to neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our work spans Drosophila, mouse, and human systems, combining high-throughput genetics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, neurophysiology, and advanced computational approaches. The lab is embedded within the Michigan Neuroscience Institute (MNI) - a cross-campus research community founded in 1955 that unites more than 160 faculty to advance discovery across molecular, cellular, systems, and computational neuroscience. This environment provides exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, access to cutting-edge cores, and engagement with a vibrant neuroscience community.
