Job Summary

The School of Dentistry is looking to recruit a Research Laboratory Technician Associate to join the Castilho lab. In this position, you will conduct research on mucosa, skin, and related tissues under Principal Investigator supervision, focusing on tissue regeneration, wound healing, head and neck cancer, and other disease types. You will also provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director/Principal Investigator of the Global Initiatives in Oral and Craniofacial Health (GIOCH) Program in the School of Dentistry. You will report to Dr. Rogerio Castilho. Candidates must be available to work on-site at the School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Responsibilities*

  • Design and execute experiments using molecular/cellular biology and biomaterials techniques
  • Maintain cell cultures and animal models
  • Analyze data and assist with manuscript preparation
  • Present findings at lab meetings
  • Manage lab records, inventory, and supply ordering
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (IACUC, IBC protocols)
  • Train lab personnel on techniques and equipment
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as needed

*Training in specialized techniques and equipment will be provided.

  • Organize and maintain documentation for all program activities and international trips
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and track program budgets
  • Prepare reports and presentations
  • Ensure compliance with university travel policies
  • Maintain communication between international partners and university stakeholders
  • Support logistics for international visiting students and faculty, including scheduling, facility access, and orientation materials

*Training on procedures will be provided.
 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field. One or more years of laboratory research experience
  • Strong skills in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and data analysis
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
