Job Summary
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) is seeking an enthusiastic, tech-savvy self-starter to fill an immediate opening for a Business Systems Analyst Senior (BSA) position. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Systems and Research, this position will assist with the implementation of new technologies, such as CRM, data analysis, business processes, and systems across the department.
The selected candidate will perform complex statistical analyses of data reported in the various information systems with a primary focus on the student data sets. This position will also design and create data visualizations that have an intuitive interface and are easy to understand. As a member of the OUA Systems & Research team, the BSA will have an opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment with other BSA's and cross-functional teams to support the needs of OUA and the University community.

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) manages U-M's enrollment function to efficiently optimize students' experiences throughout their engagement, from prospect to alumni. The division collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and staff in support of the university's mission.
OEM comprises a dedicated team of more than 200 full-time staff members and up to 400 additional student and temporary staff and is structured in five operational units - the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of New Student Programs, the Office of the Registrar, and OEM Administration. Responsibilities*
- Designs, programs, tests, and assists in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of CRM and related systems ? including production and end-user support, integration monitoring, process analysis, documentation, evaluation, and maintenance.
- Analyzes business and user needs, documents requirements, and translates them into system requirement specifications for technical implementation.
- Develops and executes test plans to ensure that a product or system meets design specifications, security, data integrity, and other requirements.
- Provides systems, integration, data, and reporting support for OUA staff and other university departments as directed.
- Maintains, prioritizes, and coordinates project activities focused on automation, data pipelines, integrations, and system monitoring.
- Creates ad hoc queries for data requests and special projects, focusing primarily on recruitment and admissions, third-week count, and student data. May develop data visualizations as needed, but with primary focus on systems-driven data processing.
- Enhances existing applications and integrations by utilizing a thorough knowledge of the OUA mission, business processes, and data/reporting requirements. Increases operating efficiency and adapts existing systems to new requirements. Develops and/or enhances policies and procedures for data systems and reporting.
- Provides and interprets admissions data; responds to regular and ad-hoc data and systems support requests.
- Develops technical documentation for all new programs, integrations, scripts, and modifications.
- Assists with special projects for OUA, Office of Enrollment Management, academic units, and other University offices requesting assistance with systems, data, and reporting. Contributes ideas and assists with problem-solving.

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science/Math, Information Systems, or other related field.
- Five years of experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated skills in business systems analysis, requirements gathering, design, and system testing. Ability to learn new software and communicate clearly with others.
- Strong understanding of database structures, data mapping, data management, data manipulation, and data mining techniques.
- High proficiency with SQL querying, relational databases, and data extraction.
- Experience with Python for automation, scripting, and audit applications.
- Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and data pipelines.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git) for managing scripts and automation.
- Ability to identify process improvements and suggest solutions involving confidential data.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and respond to requests promptly.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated motivation and ability to learn and keep up with evolving systems, data processing, and admissions business processes.
Desired Qualifications*
- An understanding of student data and reporting functions in an admissions environment.
- Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft Student systems.
- Experience with Python-based automation tools, API integration, and/or ETL development.
- Understanding of technologies and languages that power the web (e.g., HTML, JavaScript).
Modes of Work
The Office of Enrollment Management requires a hybrid work arrangement of a minimum of three days on-site and two remote days.
Thursday is an on-site work day for all divisional staff. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Underfill Statement
This position will be filled at the senior-level salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 as the primary goal. The requirements listed above reflect the senior-level expectation. However, applicants with less experience are encouraged to apply, and this position may be filled at an intermediate level.
