Job Summary
The student assistant will work for 10 hours/week during normal NSB building hours in support of an NSF grant supported project titled "Assessing the systematics and diversity of Haemosporida in African reptiles." Position requires familiarity with common molecular biology laboratory techniques and software tools, including MEGA and ArcGIS.
Responsibilities*
Laboratory
- DNA barcoding techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, amplicon purification)
- General laboratory upkeep (racking tips, glassware cleaning, identifying supplies for reorder)
Data analysis
- DNA sequence assembly, alignment, and phylogenetic analysis
- Geospatial data mapping and analysis
