Michigan Medicine Otolaryngology Clinic combined with Otolaryngology and Audiology. We are actively seeking qualified candidates who will provide compassionate care to our adult patient population. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and service-oriented individual to be a part of our medical assistant team. Candidates should be patient-oriented individuals who are interested in creating the ideal experience for our patients, families, and employees. The individual in this role is expected to assist and exhibit professional and positive image when interacting with patients and providers. In addition, balancing other daily responsibilities in a team-based setting.

Responsibilities*

Function as part of a team to manage patient flow in a fast paced, outpatient clinic setting. MA duties included but are not limited to the following:

  • Work directly with providers and care team to deliver excellent and timely patient care.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow in a fast-paced clinic.
  • Complete patient intake including taking vitals, obtain medical and surgical history, and document chief complaints. 
  • Reconcile outside records and document clinical information in patient's chart using Epic/MiChart applications.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Provide clinic assistance by performing immunizations. medication administration, EKGs and procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Room set up and preparation for patients which require cleaning and preparation of medical equipment.
  • Cross cover medical specialties within the Otolaryngology specialty clinic such as Head and Neck Cancer, Otology, Vocal Health, General Oto services, Rhinology, Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Services and Speech Language Pathology services.
  • Complete telephone intake of our Telehealth patients.
  • Clean, stock, organize patient care areas.

Administrative Duties:

  • Prepare/place orders for patient care supplies.
  • Prepare medical instruments for transport for HLD

Other Assigned Duties

  • Assist in contacting patients regarding clinic changes.
  • Quality improvement activities.
  • Attend mandatory team/clinic meetings.
  • Various duties deemed clinically appropriate within the scope of practice designated by clinical staff, supervisor, or
    designee.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients. 

Associate Level:

  • 1-3 years of experience

Assistant Level:

  • 0-1 years of experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years experience
  • Knowledge of Epic/MiChart
  • Medical Terminology strongly preferred
  • Computer skills and familiarity with computer applications, including EPIC and Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience working in a patient care setting
  • Certification of Medical Assistant
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting
  • Ability to work with a diverse population delivering excellent customer service
  • Excellent Attendance
  • Ability to lift and assist patients when needed
  • Open availability to staff within the hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm
