Job Summary
Milk Room Dietetic Technicians are responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely storage, preparation, and delivery of human milk, infant and pediatric formulas, oral nutrition supplements, and enteral nutrition formulas.
Responsibilities*
- Follows UM Health procedures and applicable safety guidelines for handling, labeling, preparing, fortifying, tracking, and delivering human milk, fortified human milk, and heat pasteurized donor human milk.
- Verifies recipes with feeding orders in the electronic health record to generate labels and production lists, and document required information. Follows recipes and directions for human milk and formula preparation/fortification.
- Delivers prepared products to patient rooms adhering to safety precautions and using the appropriate patient identifiers.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary environment by following aseptic techniques, equipment cleaning procedures, temperature monitoring, sanitation documentation, and product safety requirements, including recall procedures when directed.
- Collaborates with other healthcare disciplines, including registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), in fulfilling requests from Milk Room.
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Protects confidential patient information.
Required Qualifications*
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor?s degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of newborn and pediatric nutrition.
- Experience with the safe handling, preparation, and fortification of human milk and infant formula.
- Experience using aseptic technique.
- Experience using electronic health record to perform job functions.
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
This position requires the temporary employee to work at a minimum of one 8-10 shift per week, with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours, dependent on operational needs.
Work Days: Friday-Sunday
Shift time: 12:00pm-8:00pm

Hourly Wage: $17.00
