Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for outstanding individuals to participate in research studying the biological function of cancer stem cells in brain tumors (glioma and medulloblastoma) and the signal pathways that regulate such cells.

Responsibilities*

 Projects will be involved in developing new therapies for malignant brain tumors and studying how signaling pathways or genes regulate brain cancer stem cells using human primary tumor xenograft and transgenic mouse brain tumor models. This research will be a collaborative effort among the Department of Neurosurgery, Cell and Developmental Biology, and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Michigan, and provides an excellent opportunity for training and career development. 

Required Qualifications*

  • PhD and/or MD Degree 
  • Three to five years of lab experience. 
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; current authorization to work in the United States is required. 
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Strong experience in molecular biology, mouse models, cell culture, and microarray analysis is preferred.

Additional Information

This is a 2 year term-limited appointment with the potential for extension based on funding and performance. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and you will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening
