Job Summary

About KidSport Adaptive Summer Camp:

KidSport Adaptive Summer Camp offers children ages 4-11 the opportunity to learn and play a variety of team sports, individual sports, team building games, fitness, and other physical education activities, in a non-competitive and fun sports environment. KidSport Adaptive is specifically designed to address the modifications that may be needed by children with neurodevelopmental or physical differences so that they can participate in small group physical activities. Pool time (e.g., instructional swimming and aquatic recreation) will be available each day for children who are able to safely participate. View our KidSport Summer Camps Website to read more about our programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide quality instruction and supervision to campers ages 4-11
  • Help campers engage in the physical activities
  • Support a variety of physical, social and cognitive needs
  • Plan daily activities using provided KidSport activity resources
  • Prepare and put away equipment daily
  • Must be available for 9 weeks (June 15-August 14), Monday through Friday, from approximately 8am-4pm, with a lunch break from 12-1pm. No camp Thursday, July 2nd or Friday, July 3rd.
  • Some staff will be needed until 5pm to supervise aftercare and others will be needed to help supervise lunch. No one will work over 40 hours/week
  • Available for our paid camp orientation week, June 8-12, 2026.

Location: Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI. You will need to have transportation to this location.

Desired Qualifications*

Adaptive Counselor: 

  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working with children with neurodevelopmental or physical differences

Adaptive and Lead Counselor: 

  • Leadership experience working with children 
  • Experience planning physical activities for children with neurodevelopmental or physical differences

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
