The Brighton Center for Specialty Care is one of the newer University of Michigan Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The new 2-story facility is located at 7500 Challis in Brighton, MI. Responsibilities*
Function as part of a team to manage patient flow in a fast paced, outpatient clinic setting. Duties included but are not limited to the following: taking vitals, accurately updating medications and other information in the electronic medical record, prepping patient and physicians for procedures, and maintaining clinic flow.
- Functions to support the providers and patients for all clinic visits within the Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Center which include Back & Pain, Neurology Pain, NeuroSport, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery- Adult and Pediatric, PM&R ? Adult and Pediatric, Rheumatology
- Provide direct patient care including intake, suture removal, wound care, casting and bracing as directed by providers
- Set up and assist in complex procedures, requiring knowledge of complex and varied equipment including procedures such as injection, reduction, pin removals, hand procedure, Ultrasound, Tenex
- Provides routine but complex instructions for patient procedures and treatments, according to unit guidelines and as delegated by providers and nurses
- Coordinates clinical services provided to patients, radiology imaging and tests, blood draws and lab routing of lab specimens
- Provider support for provider video visits, which includes, reminder calls, portal assistance, intake, obtaining medical records and imaging needed for provider
- Assistance and back up to PSA Nurse assist's in basket for messages from patients through the portal, providers, nurses, and MAs.
- Assist providers with patient letter and form completion
- Maintaining, ordering, and stocking supplies for exam rooms
- Ensuring appropriate infection control protocol is followed
- Properly managing equipment to ensure it is well-maintained and ready-for-use
- Problem-solve issues related to the retrieval of medical information
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
- 1-3 years of experience
Assistant Level:
- 0-1 years of experience
- Some office experience
Desired Qualifications*
- Certification as a Medical Assistant.
- Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.
- Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting
- Communicates effectively
- Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills
- Excellent attendance history
Work Schedule
The facility is open 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday. We are flexible in scheduling, and request that you are also flexible in working various shifts.
Modes of Work
