Job Summary

Stamps Gallery seeks an enthusiastic candidate to apply for the position of part-time Gallery Assistant at Stamps Gallery. The incumbent will work closely with gallery staff members to gain valuable experience in gallery administrative functions, public programs, and maintenance. Stamps Gallery invites interested candidates to apply with their resume and a short statement of interest in working at the gallery (200 words max), plus their general availability between March - July 2026.  

Responsibilities*

Visitor Experience and Security 

  • Act as frontline staff during open hours, greeting, assisting, answering questions, and interacting with visitors. 
  • Maintaining gallery spaces and front desk cleanliness, function, and security with proper opening and/or closing procedures. 

 Public Programs Assistance 

  • Assist with set up and tear down of events during openings and other public programs 
  • Assist with artist talks, panel discussions, public programs, etc. 
  • Assist Gallery Staff with facilitating exhibition tours, as needed 

Office and Exhibition Administration Assistance 

  • Track Gallery Attendance 
  • Assist with designing the Gallery introduction slideshow 
  • Answering phone, directing calls, maintaining Stamps Gallery email inbox 
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including ordering supplies, coordinating catering menus, and assisting with travel and itinerary arrangements for visiting artists and guests, as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Reporting: This position reports to the Public Programs & Engagement Officer, with some interaction with the Gallery Director and Exhibitions Coordinator & Preparator. 

Availability: Gallery Assistants are generally scheduled to work during public hours Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Evening hours may also be assigned during events and public programs and for staff meetings. Gallery Assistants generally work an average of 4-8 hours per week. Priority will be given to applicants who can work Thursday evenings, are available April 17 - May 2, 2026, and are also available in summer 2026. 

Pay: $15/hr
