The HITS Enterprise Data & Information Services (EDIS) division collaborates with partners throughout Michigan Medicine, the University of Michigan, and the state of Michigan, to create data resources which can be used across the enterprises. Their work enables strategic, data-driven decisions by leaders, researchers, clinicians, educators, and administrators. EDIS provides services across the clinical, education, research, and administrative mission domains and is organized around the following core capabilities: Data Foundations, Analytics, Health Information Exchange, and Enterprise Data Solutions.
Job Summary
Health Information Technology and Services (HITS) at Michigan Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Enterprise Data and Analytics Platforms in Enterprise Data and Information Services (EDIS) Division. This leadership role is part of the Enterprise Data Strategy, Engineering and Architecture (EDSEA) team. EDSEA provides valuable insight to leaders across the institution in support of its tripartite mission of patient care, education, and research.
Reporting to the EDIS HITS Director of Enterprise Data Strategy, Engineering and Architecture, this position will manage the Enterprise Data DevOps Team and Data Analyst Team. These teams are responsible for administering enterprise data engineering, data storage, and analytics platforms. This position is part of a dynamic and collaborative leadership team. The manager will play an instrumental role in building a future-looking, cloud-hosted information architecture that will empower Michigan Medicine to be leaders and best in education, research, and patient care.

Responsibilities*
- Oversee the administration and support of Azure data platforms and services.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams, data science teams, and reporting teams to build new services and enhance existing ones.
- Play an integral role in conceptualizing and implementing the next generation of enterprise data assets for Michigan Medicine, including a Michigan Medicine Data Lakehouse.
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of modern technologies and tools to enhance capabilities, scalability, security and performance of enterprise data and analytics solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to ensure that enterprise data services and platforms are evolving to meet the organization's growing data needs.
- Support the EDSEA Director in turning strategy into action.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies to ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant data usage across the enterprise information architecture.
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges, as well as functional objectives.
- Provide leadership, coaching & feedback, and support to analysts, programmers, and architects.
- Interview, select, and train new employees.
Required Qualifications*
- A bachelor's degree
- 7 years of professional experience including at least 2 years of IT related experience
- 5 years in a managerial/supervisory or team lead role overseeing 5 or more direct reports
- Demonstrated experience in a related role requiring confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, organization, prioritization, troubleshooting, and working independently.
- Experience with the full software lifecycle of system implementation including requirements analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance testing and documentation.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work on multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of systems development methodologies including waterfall and agile approaches.
- Experience supporting SQL databases and Oracle databases.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience as a Team Lead, Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Experience supporting one or more of the following lines of business: patient care, revenue cycle operations, student affairs, faculty affairs, research administration, finance, supply chain management.
- Experience with ETL development platforms like Informatica or MS SSIS.
- Experience integrating data and analytics solutions with Electronic Health Record Systems (EHR) and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP).
- Experience using and supporting Azure data services.
- Experience using and supporting Microsoft PowerApps.
- Experience using and supporting data science, decision support, and application development platforms.
- Experience working closely with, or as a member of, enterprise data warehousing and reporting teams.

This position is being made available with the ability for you to negotiate alternative work schedules and remote/on-site options to suit your work-life balance.

HITS is a flexible-first work environment and remote work is supported. This position must be available for regular travel to Ann Arbor, MI for onsite work.
