Responsibilities*

  • Evaluate, recommend, educate, and implement comprehensive and specialized nutritional support for patients with complex treatment and diagnostic needs.
  • Perform nutrition diagnosis, develop nutrition care plan, and deliver appropriate nutrition interventions.
  • Assist in the development of objectives of care, education, standards of practice and programs to assess outcomes of nutrition diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Educate patient and family on appropriate diet therapy and how to measure the effectiveness of the required changes upon discharge.
  • Serve as a consultant to the healthcare team concerning patient treatment plans, established practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • In the ambulatory care setting, engage patients and family members in making behavioral changes to optimize self- care management and achieve positive outcomes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from the Manager of Nutrition Services (inpatient) or Manager of UMMG Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (ambulatory care) or another designated official.


SUPERVISION EXCERCISED
Functional supervision is exercised over Dietetic Technicians and support staff.

Required Qualifications*

  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • If licensed on or after January 1, 2024: Master's degree
  • This classification requires Primary Source Verification.

Desired Qualifications*

Some experience in clinical dietetics is desirable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires moderate standing/walking, and/or infrequent lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

Background Screening
