Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Labor Relations, you will manage high-volume administrative workflows and complex scheduling for the grievance and disciplinary processes across multiple union contracts. You will ensure strict contractual compliance by maintaining precise records, generating trend reports, and facilitating process training for partners. By identifying technology improvements and collaborating with campus partners, you will increase efficiency and support the smooth operation of University labor relations.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage high-volume administrative workflows for progressive discipline and grievances across multiple union contracts.
  • Maintain precise digital and physical records for disciplinary incidents and last-chance letters.
  • Coordinate complex scheduling and logistics for yearly grievance hearings and disciplinary reviews in person and by video conference.
  • Monitor compliance with nine distinct union contracts (including AFSCME, IUOE, and SEIU) and serve as a primary contact for process inquiries.
  • Create trend reports and monthly Regents Communications for University leadership and HR executives.
  • Facilitate training sessions and develop instructional materials, such as flowcharts and checklists, for grievance processes.
  • Identify technology improvements, including AI, to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with partners across Ann Arbor, Michigan Medicine, Flint, and Dearborn campuses to improve labor relations efficiency.
  • Manage specialized workflows, including termination/rehire reporting, timekeeping tracking, and job posting documentation for Trades.
  • Partner with the Administrative Services Manager to align daily operations with departmental goals and programs.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience.
  • 4+ years experience in an administrative similar role requiring confidentiality, timeliness, organization, prioritization, and customer service.
  • Some familiarity with labor laws, union contracts, and associated legal frameworks.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on building and maintaining professional relationships with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google suite of products.
