Responsibilities*

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients and families in the Wound Care Clinic
  • Provide coordination of care across the continuum for patients and families of the Comprehensive Wound Care Clinic
  • Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to patients, families and providers in the management of complex and chronic wounds
  • Assist providers with care of clinic patients including treatments, assessment and patient care orders
  • Perform daily phone and triage tasks in MiChart related to patient concerns, issues, and needs.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations of wound care supplies and equipment.
  • Orders tests, renews prescriptions, informs patients of the results from tests, telephone triage (gathering information, giving instructions and answers to patients, teaching, relaying problems to MDs, and making decisions for patients to come to ER or clinic using nursing assessment skills). 
  • Participate in the development of institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines in keeping with evidenced-based practice and standards 
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement and evidenced-based practice initiatives related to wound care.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Medicine
  • Five (5) or more years direct patient care with the adult surgical population
  • Two (2) or more years (within the last 5 years) caring for patients with acute and chronic wounds

Desired Qualifications*

  • BSN
  • WOCN-Certified
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred
  • Previous experience with the ordering and management of DME preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work autonomously to prioritize patient care needs.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills in daily practice.
  • Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 5 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.  
  • Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Hourly range for Registered Nurses $41.78-$64.81 / hour

  •        Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
  •        Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

  •        Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
  •        Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
  •        Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

Hours per week: 20 hours
Shift / Days / Hours:  Day Shift, variable shifts, Monday through Friday.  Flexibility in scheduling is required
Location: Dominos Farms wiht locations as needed based on divisional growth changes/ strategies.  This is not a remote position.



* Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
