Job Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Peter Todd is seeking a lab specialist to both manage a mouse colony and conduct preclinical studies of novel therapeutics for two different neurodegenerative diseases. This position will involve genotyping, intraventricular infusions, tail vein injections, animal behavior and animal histology.  

Responsibilities*

  • Management of a moderate sized neurodegenerative disease mouse colony, including genotyping, ear tagging, monitoring and adjusting breeding cages.
  • Assist with mouse behavior experiments and data analysis. 
  • Collecting mouse tissues for analysis including euthanasia, perfusion, and processing samples for histology.
  • Assisting with administration of medications in food and/or water, and monitoring.
  • Dissecting and organizing tissue samples with microtome and/or cryotome. 
  • Performing immunostaining, image development and quantification.

Required Qualifications*

  • Undergraduate degree in neuroscience or related field
  • 5 years experience
  • At least 2 years experience working with mice
  • Interest in working with laboratory mice daily.
