Job Summary
The newborn hearing screener technicians perform hearing screening on all newborns in the Mother-Baby unit, NICU, and other specialty care floors. Additionally, they provide technical assistance to staff audiologists in the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program.
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma required.
- Knowledge of computer and systems.
- Excellent customer service skills and general problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates an ability to interact well with patients and families in a respectful and compassionate way.
- Adheres to Michigan Medicine's standard of providing world-class care.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor's or Associate Degree or combination of education and experience.
- Experience with direct-patient care.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record System.
Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
