Job Summary
This is an hourly position as a research assistant. The research assistant will assist on a project working with Social Sciences faculty and the Dearborn Historical Museum.
Responsibilities*
- Work with the Dearborn Historical Museum to request records from the city of Dearborn administration
- Sort through the city's collection of historical photographs
- Create a finding aid that identifies Arab and Muslim content in collections
- Sort through the records of past administrations seeking related content
- Work with the staff of the museum, to provide brief descriptions of documents, images, and other materials
- This work will be conducted on site at the Dearborn Historical Museum
- Conduct oral history interviews with some subjects
- Provide transcripts of interviews
- Photograph local institutions
Required Qualifications*
The research assistant should be familiar with:- Google Drive and Google Sheets
- Communicating professionally
- Oral history methodologies
- Collecting and analysis of archival materials
- Must have their own transportation
- Must be a current student
Desired Qualifications*
Prior experience working with archival materials.
