Job Summary
The Hays Laboratory in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Michigan Medical School is seeking to bring on a Temporary Lab Assistant over the summer to assist with routine lab maintenance and lab set-up. The selected individuals would work 20-25 hours per week with an hourly rate of $15 per hour. The anticipated start date is early June 2026.
Responsibilities*
- Complete appropriate lab safety training
- Follow all instructions as directed by the PI or Lab Manager
- Dishwashing, media preparation, and buffers preparation
- Record data clearly in a lab notebook
- Share recorded data with PI
Required Qualifications*
- Undergraduate student working towards a STEM degree
- Able to work well independently and as a group
- Willingness to work in a sterile environment with yeast
- Strong written communication skills

Background Screening
