Job Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning seeks a program coordinator to help grow a new undergraduate program in urban technology, and support the development of a master's degree in urban technology. Reporting to the managing director of urban planning academic programs and also supporting the faculty directors (our organizational chart), you will provide broad-based support to the urban technology program. You will coordinate logistics related to courses and travel, purchase items, process reimbursements, plan events, and provide general administrative support. You will also take on research and communications tasks to support the degree program.
This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is required three days a week, with a few fully remote weeks throughout the academic year and a mostly remote period from mid-May to mid-August.
Responsibilities*
- Maintain documents, files, schedules, and records relevant to the program
- Coordinate travel, including planning of airfare, ground transportation, hotels, food/restaurants. Some travel for class trips may be required as part of these responsibilities.
- Purchase supplies, process reimbursements and invoices, monitor expenses against the program's budget
- Plan events, including room scheduling, catering, visitor accommodations and honoraria, signage, event support (working events, setting up, taking down, clean up), and technology needs and set up in collaboration with our IT team
- Help prepare course materials and the scheduling of courses and meetings
- Contribute to background research, writing, and editing for the program's newsletter
- Assist the faculty directors and project manager with implementing other projects and programming as assigned
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 or more years of experience
- Experience with event planning and coordination
- Intermediate experience with Google suite and Microsoft Office applications, experience with Adobe suite is helpful
- Exposure to or interest in cities, technology, or urban issues
