Responsibilities*
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
To provide patient care and support to the adult hemodialysis patients according to established policy/protocol under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors patient throughout the provision of treatment and responds appropriately to changes in patient?s status.
- Observes and reports significant changes in patient?s condition and assists with appropriate corrective measures.
- Perform appropriate treatment, administers tests specific to area of expertise, to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- High School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications*
- Basic life support (BLS certified)

Modes of Work

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
