Job Summary

The College of Business, Dean's Office is seeking a UM-Dearborn student to serve as Office Student Assistant. The selected candidate will provide clerical support and project related tasks to the College of Business (COB) Dean's Office, Undergraduate Student Services, Graduate Student Services, and/or Business Career Center as needed. A Federal Work Study student is preferred. The student worker is not allowed to work during class hours, and the work schedule of 10-15 hours per week will be coordinated with the supervisor. The starting rate is $15.00 per hour, which may increase based on responsibilities, skill level, and longevity.  Performance Evaluation is an ongoing process as needed.

Requirements include: 

  • Current undergraduate degree-seeking student at UM-Dearborn
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Accurate data entry, typing and proofreading skills
  • Enjoys working with people and creating a friendly and professional environment
  • Good organizational skills

Job Duties include:

  • Greet walk-in guests in a professional manner 
  • Handle incoming phone calls and/or emails
  • Utilize the case management system to escalate complex questions
  • Must follow confidentiality guidelines when handling private and personal information
  • Sort and handle incoming mail
  • Prepare mailings and gift request forms
  • Create simple documents and spreadsheets
  • Scan, copy and/or fax documents
  • Provide support to COB?s staff for special projects
  • Manage office supply orders
  • Additional duties as assigned


Desired qualifications:

  • Previous experience in clerical / office work 
  • Knowledge of UM-Dearborn campus, Google suite and Adobe

Flexible Work Schedule (will work around students class schedule)
    
    Dean's Office Hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday

    On campus work mode only
