Job Summary

The research specialist will support studies focused on how amino acids regulate intestinal iron absorption. This individual will need expertise in mammalian cell culture, mouse models, and a strong understanding of basic intestinal physiology. The position will also require experience in flow cytometry and nutrient absorption assays, skills that will be essential not only for advancing this specific project but also for supporting other members of the laboratory working in these areas.

Responsibilities*

  • Maintain and manage cell culture lines, including routine passaging, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

  • Perform regular mycoplasma testing and maintain records of results.

  • Freeze down, catalog, and manage cell line stocks to ensure secure and traceable inventories.

  • Assist in genotyping of mouse colonies, including DNA extraction, PCR, and data recording.

  • Contribute to overall lab organization, record-keeping, and shared resource management.

Required Qualifications*

  • PhD in Biological Sciences or related discipline, 
  • 5 years' experience with mouse model 
  • Previous experience with research method development
  • Previous experience with intestinal biology
  • Previous experience working in cell culture and organoid models

Work Schedule

M-F with some weekend work

This is a one-year term-limited position with the possibility of renewal if funding is available

Background Screening
