Job Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is looking for a print and a/v services associate to support our printing lab and IT department. Reporting to the printing specialist (our organizational chart), your main responsibilities will include assisting in our printing lab by working on print jobs, answering customer questions, operating the cash register, and supporting our equipment loan program. You will also help provide onsite A/V support for classes and events, offer general IT support throughout the college, and assist with the implementation of new technologies.
Note: This job is situated in Ann Arbor and daily on-campus work is required. The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 4:00pm with some additional weekend and overtime hours for final review support.
Responsibilities*
Print Services
Assist with large and small-format printing, including lab opening duties, print checkout, cashiering, inventory, stocking, and ordering
- Support printing lab operations by running printer diagnostics, organizing materials, creating signage/handouts, and improving lab efficiencies
- Assist with equipment checkout processes, website updates, and related inventory management
- Assist with basic training for student workers as needed
A/V
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to classroom A/V, computers, hardware, software, and media equipment
- Document service requests, maintain equipment, and create or update technical support materials and user guides
- Educate customers on available A/V services, equipment use, standard configurations, and IT policies
- Collaborate with team members, service groups, and the IT manager on technical issues, A/V projects, and process improvements
General
- Provide high-quality customer service and technical support to faculty, staff, and students in person and via Zoom, phone, email, and chat
- Monitor printing lab and IT email inboxes; respond to inquiries and service requests in a timely manner
- Perform other evolving duties as assigned
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in customer service, technical support, printing services, media services, or a related environment
- Basic knowledge of computers, printers, classroom A/V equipment, and common software applications
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printing, and A/V issues
- Ability to provide professional support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors in person and through email, phone, Zoom, or chat
Modes of Work
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
Additional Information
The salary for this position is $45,000 - 48,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
