Job Summary
The candidate will assume responsibility for performing routine lab work and data analysis in support of our research on identifying and understanding the molecular and behavioral differences among serotonergic neuron subtypes in Drosophila. Core responsibilities include creating and validating transgenic constructs for Drosophila lines, fly dissection, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence microscopy, as well as recording and analyzing experimental data.
Additional responsibilities include:
Maintaining and organizing the laboratory fly stock collection
Training and mentoring undergraduate research students in Drosophila-related laboratory techniques
Designing and teaching the Drosophila modules for our high school summer research program (Neurons Can Fly), including preparing flies and necessary equipment and providing hands-on guidance to student participants
Job Summary
The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology is seeking a full-time Research Lab Tech Associate in the lab of Dr. Cai, which studies neuronal circuitry and neurogenesis in the mouse and fly brains.
Responsibilities*
High school diploma or associate's degree and 0-1 year experience is required.
Bachelor's in biology or related science degree preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills contributing to a strong team environment are required.
Applicant should be highly motivated with thorough, methodological, and accurate work habits, and must be able to work as part of a team.
The ideal candidate has a strong ability to multi-task.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience working with Drosophila is highly desired.
