Job Summary

The research lab of Dr. Mara Duncan Department of Cell & Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) seeks a highly motivated individual to work as a Research Lab Tech Intermediate/Associate (sites.google.com/a/umich.edu/duncanlab/). You will join a dynamic team and assist in an ongoing project on the molecular mechanisms of membrane traffic. The Duncan lab is an inclusive environment that prioritizes a growth mindset. We are willing to train candidates who share that growth mindset.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for molecular genetics projects. Research activities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Cell culture (Microbial and mammalian)
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Protein extractions, western blot analysis, subcloning, and genotyping.
  • Statistical analysis

Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Organization and maintenance of lab databases
  • Ordering
  • Directing undergraduates
  • Training new lab members

Required Qualifications*

  • Research Lab Tech Associate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 0-1 year experience is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Research Lab Tech Intermediate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 1-3 years experience is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Coursework or work-place experience with sterile technique
  • Cell biology or related coursework
  • Experience in molecular genetics and additional experience in one or more additional relevant research techniques

Background Screening
