Job Summary
To administer physical therapy patient treatment programs under the supervision and direction of a physical therapist.
Responsibilities*
- Provide treatment under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, following focused treatment plans based on established goals.
- Monitors patient's response to treatment and modifies treatment and/or reports patient?s response to the Physical Therapist as appropriate.
- Completes patient care and billing documentation according to established procedures.
- Assist Physical Therapists in carrying out complex procedures and programs.
- Instruct patients in physical therapy activities and in the use of equipment.
- Attend meetings to report on patient progress.
- Identify the need for home treatment programs; plan and instruct the patient and family / caregivers in home treatment programs.
- Assist in orientation and training of new staff and volunteers
- Supervise physical therapy assistant students.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- An Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Michigan.
This position requires Primary Source Verification.
Desired Qualifications*
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- 3-5 years of outpatient orthopedic and/or sports medicine experience
- Proficiency in implementation of therapeutic exercise and manual treatment interventions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and positive attitude to contribute to a high-performing multidisciplinary sports medicine team

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position (40 hrs/week). The specific schedule is to be determined. The hours of operation for the clinic are Monday - Friday 7am-7pm.
Work Locations
This position is located at MedSport Domino Farms.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
