Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant for one year with possibility of extending for a second year.
The research assistant will join an NIH-funded, multidisciplinary team examining motor behavioral and biomechanical factors affecting successful eye drop instillation. Eye drops are monitored during seated, standing and supine positions using wall mounted webcams. Multijoint arm movements are recorded using body-worn sensors including IMUs. Additional assessments include hand dexterity and strength, tactile acuity, and balance.
This study will provide data for use in the development of an instrumented eye drop device for home use in patients with visual impairments including glaucoma.
Responsibilities*
- Recruit and consent study participants
- Perform sensorimotor and biomechanical assessments during eye drop instillation in the Motor Control Laboratory, School of Kinesiology, University of Michigan
- Analyze and summarize data, and maintain database using REDCap
- Attend and report on progress at weekly team meetings
- Assist with conference presentation materials, manuscript preparation
- Other duties as assigned or required by project lead
What You'll Do

Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field
- Experience with data spreadsheet software such as Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a professional setting
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Enthusiastic and highly reliable
Desired Qualifications*
- 1-2 years research/clinical experience involving sensorimoto
- assessments/biomechanics/neurorehabilitation
- Prior experience using web-based software platforms including REDCap
- Experience working with older adults or clinical populations in a research setting
- BS or MS degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science/Biomedical Engineering or related field
- Experience with statistical analysis (SPSS, Stata, R, or MatLab)
