Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Research Fellows will conduct advanced clinical and/or translational research at the University of Michigan Cardiometabolic Center - a newly established, first-of-its-kind research center within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine co-directed by Dr. Ambarish Pandey and Dr. Thomas Wang. The Center's mission is to optimize cardiometabolic health and reduce cardiovascular risk at population scale through a data science-driven, risk-based approach spanning six integrated cores: Population and Data Science, Phenotyping, Cardiometabolic Health Clinic and Clinical Trials, Health System Implementation, Industry and Academic Partnerships, and Training and Education. These individuals will support investigator-initiated and sponsored trials by contributing to study design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
Responsibilities*
Design and execute clinical, translational, and/or outcomes-based research in cardiology
Develop research protocols, study materials, and regulatory submissions (e.g., IRB, FDA as applicable)
Collect, manage, and analyze clinical and research data using appropriate statistical methods
Interpret results and prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for publication and conferences
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, biostatisticians, and research coordinators
Assist in grant writing and preparation of funding applications
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements
Mentor junior research staff, students, or trainees as appropriate
Stay current with emerging literature and advancements in cardiovascular research
Required Qualifications*
- PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field
- Demonstrated research experience in cardiology or related field
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with scientific writing and publication
Desired Qualifications*
- Prior experience with clinical trials or large observational studies
- Familiarity with regulatory processes (IRB, IND/IDE submissions)
- Proficiency in statistical software
- Record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experience with cardiovascular imaging, biomarkers, or outcomes research

Modes of Work

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
