Job Summary
This part-time (0.5 FTE) pharmacist position will serve as a pharmacist at the new Troy Center for Specialty Care (TCSC), providing operational support to both the community and infusion/OR pharmacies at this location.
The Troy Medical Campus will be University of Michigan Health's first clinical presence in the Oakland County market. We are building a state-of-the-art specialty care campus in the heart of Troy where a deeply human commitment to personalized care will come together with world-class expertise, cutting-edge therapies, and a legacy of more than 175 years of transformative research to help patients and families in Oakland County and beyond find their Michigan Answers. The campus will feature two outpatient facilities with over a dozen specialty programs, including Cancer services, Musculoskeletal/Sports Medicine, and Reproductive Medicine, as well as a surgery/procedure center, comprehensive imaging services, laboratory, pharmacy, and therapy services. The campus is conveniently located near I-75, surrounded by popular shopping and dining, and features free parking, on-site cafe, with facilities committed to sustainable, environmentally responsible practices.
Pharmacy services planned for the building include a community pharmacy, OR and infusion pharmacy, satellite pharmacy, and ambulatory clinic-based pharmacy services.

Responsibilities*
Clinical Pharmacist Generalist job duties include:
Community Pharmacy Services:
- Review, clarify, and process medication orders in a timely manner while assuring appropriateness of therapy.
- Perform medication reconciliation on each set of prescription orders to facilitate a smooth transition of care to the outpatient community setting.
- Provide patient counseling, Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, and administer immunizations.
- Provide functional supervision of technical staff working in their area, including completion of job assignments and assuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
- Serve as preceptors for University of Michigan Pharm.D. students on a variety of rotations, including medication reconciliation, direct patient care, Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) during the second- and third years, and institutional unit-based hospital practice, Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) during the fourth year. In addition, pharmacists will assist with precepting pharmacy residents, including the PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident and the PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residents.
- Collaborate with nursing, social work, providers, pharmacists, and others to optimize patient care.
- Assist with problem-solving and process improvements within the pharmacy.
- Other duties and projects assigned by the manager to facilitate safe and efficient patient care.
Infusion and OR Pharmacy Services:
- Review, clarify, and process medication orders in a timely manner while assuring appropriateness of therapy
- Dispensing and checking of sterile product preparations
- Hosting in-services for nursing education
- Dispense investigational study medications and clinical order verifications
- ensuring optimal effectiveness and safety of medications used throughout the institution as well
- Providing accurate and timely drug information
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary health care team members

Teaching:

Required Qualifications*
Education/ Training:
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) from an accredited College of Pharmacy or BSPharm with commensurate experience.
License:
- Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan (including a Controlled Substance license), verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, or eligibility to become licensed within 90 days of employment start date.
Other:
- Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity movements, including keyboarding and non-sterile and sterile product preparation. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English. The job involves considerable standing and walking, as well as extensive work on a computer, along with fatiguing physical motions.
Desired Qualifications*
- Completion of a PGY1 residency and/or board certification
- Prior retail or community pharmacy experience is desired, along with prescription insurance knowledge and familiarity with processing
- Prior infusion, oncology, or operating room pharmacy experience with sterile product preparation, including for both hazardous and non-hazardous medications, is desired
- MTM and/or immunization experience is desired

Licensure & Certification
Current registration as a Registered Pharmacist by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy is necessary. Possession of a state narcotics license is necessary. This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
Modes of Work

Work Schedule
The schedule for this position is day shift, Monday thru Friday (0.5 FTE).

Background Screening
